With further reference to your letter of the
You 7th September, 1916, No.40401/1916, relative to the East Praya reclamation scheme at Hong Kong, I am
commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty
to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary
of State for the Colonies, that they have decided to
waive their request for an area of the reclamation to
be earmarked for Naval purposes and to consent to the
exchange of property referred to in the letter from
His Excellency the Governor, of the 8th July, 1916, on
the conditions which have been agreed to by the Colonial
Government.
2.
Until the tripartite Agreement between the
Colony, the War Department and the Admiralty regarding
the formal transfer of the Naval Ordnance Yard to the
which is
Admiralty,/mentioned in the Rear-Admiral's letter of the 18th May, 1916, is completed, it may not be practicable to
give legal effect to the above exchange, but it does not appear that this need prevent the Colonial Government from proceeding with their scheme.
तु
My Lords have communicated with the War Office with a view to the completion of the tripartite Agreement
being expedited.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
Wrakamfreene
L.P.-N. 8.
